The Zillertal is famous far beyond Austria's borders as one of the most beautiful and most diverse winter sports areas in the Alps. Beginners and pros and families and couples will find the perfect conditions, the best prepared, snow-guaranteed slopes, alluring huts, impressive nature, and a short path from the vacation apartment to the lift.
Zillertal Arena and Hintertuxer Glacier
In the Zillertal and its surroundings are several ski areas that earn top marks with the quality of their offer. The most well-known are the Zillertal Arena with 150 km of slopes and the Hintertuxer glacier, which guarantees the best winter sports conditions throughout the year with an elevation of over 3,000 meters.
Snow Parks in the Zillertal
In the basin of the Zillertal, there are four important snow parks, where people gather to watch or attempt daring jumps and rides. In Gerlos is the HOTZONE Park, and in the Almdudler Snow Park in Hochzillertal there is genuine freestyle enjoyment throughout the year. Beginners and pros alike cross paths in the Vans Penken Park and Betterpark Hintertux in the Alps.
Take the cable car to skiing enjoyment
A huge plus in the Zillertal are the short paths from the apartment to the ski bus, cable car, or gondola. Instead of long rides and waiting times, real skiing enjoyment is attainable in only a short time.
Zillertal Arena Ski Area
The Zillertal Arena is the largest connected ski area in the Zillertal. It extends from Zell am Ziller to Gerlos and even into Salzburger Land to Königsleiten. It is an Eldorado for all winter sports fans and ski enthusiasts.
You can enjoy 150 km of the best prepared ski slopes and 52 state-of-the-art cable cars and lifts. For all action fans there is a fun park, snow park and halfpipe, action park, and race route with timekeeping. Numerous huts, snow bars, and après-ski bars ensure that you won't get hungry or thirsty. The little ones are important to us, which is why there are children's ski schools and kindergartens in the Zillertal Arena.
Our Alpenkristall apartment house is only 800 meters from the skiing Eldorado of the Zillertal Arena, and the stop for the free ski bus is only 200 meters away. We are the perfect base camp for a successful winter vacation in the Zillertal Arena.
Experiences in Winter
Freeriding
Snow parks and off-piste skiing in the Zillertal can be found not far from the apartment. Each ski area has deep snow areas where you can enjoy freeriding with various difficulty levels and with the help of an experienced guide.
Horse-drawn sleigh rides in the Zillertal
Tours with horse-drawn sleighs are a special experience for more than just the kids. It is a romantic ambiance as the powerful horses pull the sleigh through the glistening snow. Mulled wine, a fire, grilling, baking bread by the campfire: you can experience all of this here. Just as traditional but somewhat more demanding are snowshoe hikes, which are offered as guided tours in the Zillertal.
Ice climbing
If you already possess some ice climbing experience, then nothing stands in the way of one of the greatest enjoyments. Instead of spending the day in the vacation apartment, head out and attempt climbing a frozen waterfall.
